Win a trip of a lifetime! The Washington Youth Tour!

Each summer Trico sends two to four high school juniors on an all-expenses paid trip to our nation's capitol. This weeklong event takes place in June and gives kids an opportunity to visit our nation's landmarks, meet with our government representatives and learn about our nation's history. The tour is coordinated by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA).

Students are chosen based on a brief essay and an interview process. See the contest rules below for more information on how to apply. If you have questions, contact Mimi Villafane, mimiv@trico.coop, 744-2944, ext. 1363.

Contest Rules

You must:

• Be a high school junior, age 16 - 18 years
• Be the son or daughter of a Trico member *
• Fill out an application and obtain parental consent - Click here to download the application in PDF format
• Write a 300 to 500 word creative essay on Why is conservation important to a co-op?
  • Be specific, using reference materials to substatiate your views. The following web sites can help in your research:

  • do not include your name or other identifying mark on your essay. Simply attach it to your application with a paper clip.
• include in your application a personal letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator

Essays will be evaluated by a panel of judges chosen by the Trico Communications division. The writers of the essays receiving the top scores will move on to the interview process. Interview and essay scores will be combined to select the winners and alternate.
